What's going on

Monklands Baby & Family Clothing Aid are driven by the cases that we help. The difference that a small gesture can make to a family is incredible. This is just a small sample of the feedback we have collected.

I can’t thank your volunteers enough, I don’t keep well and IT has been so hard giving up my independence but your volunteers made it easy to ask for help when I needed it. I can’t thank you all enough for the work that you do.

Thank you so much for your help and all of the stuff, it’s absolute amazing. I’m blown away with the help and generosity of you and your team. It’s absolutely blown me away what’s happened in here. With all this stuff I could actually move in right now. I’ve got furniture here. I’ve got paint. I’ll get a brush and crack on. None of this would be even possible without you. To actually find someone like yourself and your team and what you do to help I’m speechless to describe what this actually means to me. Thank you again so much. I’ll try get myself fit too and try be available to help out with what you do sometimes. It’s kind of burst the wee bubble I was in making me feel down and nearly out. I’ve got a new thought process now and this has made a big difference to me personally.

Thank you for everything you have done for my family and myself. We were without so many basic items in our house which was making our daily life very difficult and stressful, but with the help all the guys gave us we are so much more settled and happy. I really can’t thank you all enough.

I can’t thank everyone who helped me and my children enough. I don’t know how we would have coped without their kindness.

I had an urgent case which required lots of clothing and household goods urgently as a single parent was being housed with virtually no belongings. Monklands Baby & Family Clothing Aid had everything sorted and delivered by the end of the day. The mother was so relieved and the help provided lifted a weight off her mind.

It can be hard to walk away from a family household knowing how difficult they are finding it to get by, so when I left a house recently knowing that thanks to the work of the Monklands Clothing Aid that the family’s life would be that bit easier, it gave me a great sense of happiness and relief. Thanks for all you do.

Volunteering with DITC can be both difficult and rewarding when engaging with families who have been referred to the charity by 3rd parties. Witnessing how much some people and families are in need of help and the difference the charity’s intervention makes puts a big smile on my face. DITC has a great team of volunteers behind them, really friendly and positive attitude throughout the group and some great friends to be made.

I’ve been volunteering with DITC since last April after being furloughed from work and needing something to keep me busy, it was the best decision I’ve ever made I get so much satisfaction in helping other’s and a good feeling of self-worth. I have been so humbled by people’s generosity in wanting to help others going through hard times and have met fantastic people among the other volunteers, I hope I can continue volunteering for a long time to come.

I enjoy helping out with the baby/clothes bank because I enjoy helping people and it makes you stop and reflect on life. Don’t want to go into too much detail but Diamonds in the Community have helped me through one of the hardest times in my life. Dougy, my dad and Ali – the past couple of months have been a bit hard on a personal level and I’ll be grateful to these three guys especially.

DITC is a brilliant local charity whose work makes a huge difference to people’s lives. Whether it is helping a pensioner get shopping when they have no one else to help or an individual or family in crisis who needs a new start, it is fantastic to know that there are caring people out there who try their best to assist. The people who volunteer may appear to some as rough diamonds (pardon the pun) but they have hearts of gold. It is an honour and a privilege to work with Dougy and the team.

I’m a newbie to volunteering and I didn’t realise the work that DITC do, it’s amazing, the team are dedicated to helping people that are less well off or that have nothing at all, they work non-stop to help others and it makes me realise just how lucky I am. Personally I get a lot of satisfaction, knowing that by giving a couple of hours of my time I am helping others, I would recommend volunteering especially if you get to work with such a great team as DITC, Thanks to you all for making me feel welcome.

Yesterday I had a bit of mixed emotions as we cleared out a flat belonging sadly to a lady who had passed away but her furniture went to a young woman with 4 young kids who desperately needed it. You could see she was delighted with the stuff she received. Personally I am just happy to help out when I can and I hope the people we go to get the benefit from the stuff they receive.
